What a great idea! You can use this concept for just about any gifting idea. ~Susan
Do you know someone who has taken up sewing recently? I do, and I wanted to help him get started. What better way to do that than something that is cute, homemade, and practical.
There are multiple tutorials for making a sewing kit out of a mason jar, and they strike me as very attainable. It’s good to first see what tutorials are out there. Hot gluing fabric didn’t work as well for me as sewing. (It’s a bear to get the lid on no matter what one you use, but not impossible.)
Here’s how I did it.
1. Cut out the fabric
I used Gorilla tape to cut a circle out that was about an inch bigger than the mason jar lid.
2. Baste the fabric and add stuffing
Sew loosely around the edge of the circle you cut out. Add some stuffing, and put the mason jar lid on top. Then pull the fabric together.
3. Reinforce with glue
Once your happy with the amount of stuffing, add hot glue to the bottom for reinforcement.
4. Fill your jar with goodies and put the top on
Once you have all your sewing necessities in your jar, close up the lid. It took me a few tries, but I did get it on there!
I actually made this one up for my boyfriend who recently got a sewing machine, hence the Star Wars fabric. This also goes to show that sewing can be for everyone!

Creative aspirations are always a must! Getting ready to walk over to Hobby Lobby and engage into some play of oils and brushes and anything that the spirit has me to do today. LOVE EXTREME!
