A separate room for a home office is a luxury many don’t have, so we carve out an office space where we can. Closets are a popular option for creating tiny office spaces that are big on function. Here are 8 great ideas for carving out a space for a home office.

1. When it comes to a home office, four things are needed: a desk, a light, a chair, and storage. A Parson’s desk or table makes a great desk for a home office. With the rise of laptops, home office desks no longer have to accommodate a large monitor and tower and can be smaller.

2. When creating a multipurpose room, like a bedroom and home office combo, continue the room’s colors into the office space. A closet with curtains can be a great space for a small home office.

3. Another great closet turned office. The wallpaper on the back wall adds pattern and reflects the light to add interest. Keeping the color palette to three colors simplifies the tiny space. We adore the wall sconce that is installed to the back wall saving space for the work space underneath.

4. A home office can be tucked into a corner, a closet or a nook. This home office has loads of storage in the shelves that surround the nook and in the built in desk. Lighting for the room is provided by a lovely pendant light and extendable arm wall lamps.

5. A well organized and customized bookcase can replace a home office. There is room for papers, printer, laptop and other storage in a very small footprint.
