Ok, this is going to be a relatively boring post. There are no flashy design ideas, splashy colors or totally room makeovers here. Even the title is boring.
But if you’d like to see how you can make your small closet work harder for you for just $36, read on.
First of all, here is the “before” of the room – this very blue room has two small closets. My daughter is using one for storage of tween stuff (whatever that is) and the other for clothes.

Ok, back to the closet designated for clothes. There was one wire shelf with hanging space. Now there are two shelves and two rods. Exciting, huh?
- Hubby picked up some boards, two rods, and hardware to hang the rods for $36.
- We cut and painted the wood for the wall braces and shelves
- We then assembled the pieces (measuring twice and cutting once)
As a little something extra, we added a board of hooks for belts, purses, etc.
My daughter’s canopy bed came in handy during the transition.
And here is the happy ending. A closet she can (hopefully) keep organized.
And as a bonus – we’re moving the wire shelf we took down to the other “tween stuff” closet.
Sometimes it is the tiny tedious touches that make a room work.
