A Guest Room You Can Live In

a guest room you can live in

Whether you’re expecting visitors or need to to escape a snoring cover thief, it’s important that your guest room is truly comfortable and inviting. In my case, it’s also important that it’s dog-approved. And she’s picky.

Let me start by telling you there was no budget for this design – I had to shop other rooms of the house. But just because this is a room made of up misfit items (such as anything pink that the kids have officially shunned) doesn’t mean it can’t be fun! A room should make you feel good, and positive affirmations can do wonders!

The furniture in this room is not fancy, and all repurposed from other rooms over time. Such a the white blanket trunk and the repainted headboard (here’s how it used to look).

The chest provides a place for extra pillows, and a pretty tray for bedside reading (and I have an auto-timed faux candle in the white candle holder).

The rug, curtains and shams came from one of my kid’s rooms when she “got bored” with them.

I did splurge $10 on the blue dog (named Elvis) and the salt rock and dish tray were family gifts. My faithful alarm clock that simulates the rising of the sun has been by my waking side for 17 years.

The vanity and dresser are (clearly) old pieces, but they get the job done.

I’m sure the pup would give this room a thumbs up, if she had any.

To me, this room is now a happy room. Have you ever slept in your guest room to see how comfortable it really is?
