How to Fake a Bathroom Renovation

We have plans for the bathroom upstairs. Big plans. Afterall, it’s the go-to bathroom for two girls and any house guests. But right now (meaning within two weeks) we have guests coming. Not just any guests – my Mom will see it!

No time to change the single sink to a double, redo the floor, get a new commode or new mirror or lighting. We’re left with one possible option. Distraction!

Note the lovely mid-sixties linoleum floor and dated vanity. Can’t change those, so let’s distract with what we can change.

The only DIY part of this project was painting the window trim in the shower a nice, clean white. What other changes do you notice?

The shower curtain and towels came from HomeGoods, and the art came from the storage room in my basement (the companion piece to the one over the mantel in the family room).

I also moved the hamper out of this room to the girls’ rooms, making way for this fun little green table that I’ve never quite known how to use. Who know it could hold a roll! I switched the old clock out for something a little nicer (from the guest room). No one likes a clock you can hear tick and tock in a bedroom, right? I also love any excuse to use green mason jars.

My only fear is that we decide it’s fine as is and never get to the real project at hand.

But til then (whenever it is), we’re ready to have fun with family.

We’re ready for ya!
