A DIY Repurposed Wine Bar

DIY Home Wine Bar Repurpose

The kitchen in our as-is project house featured something rather unique – a brick grill and rotisserie. That’s kinda cool, if you eat a lot of meat. But, with a vegetarian in the house, and the dilapidated condition of the grill, it wasn’t going to cut it. To remove it would cost more money. So we repurposed it into a wine bar. #priorities

Raising the Bar: Before and After

I briefly considered removing it altogether – it takes up a fair amount of space.

But I’m glad we repurposed it instead. The natural brick works well with the colors in the new kitchen.

Here’s a closer view of the grill – there was a propane pipe that ran up the inside of the grill. Not shown, is the chimney on top of the roof. To make this work as a grill again there was probably some work to be done there as well (not exactly in the budget).

Since the propane gas was already there, we had it re-routed to the stove instead. Yea, we’re cooking with gas baby!

I found the hanging wine rack on Amazon. It works perfectly for that space.

Behind the Bar

Our fabulous handyman custom built the butcher block countertop to exactly fit the area where the grill had been. Extra counter space is perfect for a wine rack and accessories. The box below serves as a handy drawer for wine accessories, napkins and dish towels.

This is the view from the kitchen. I consider this the behind-the-bar function area as it’s right by the sink and dishwasher. The automatic wine opener and cheese tray are easily accessible for entertaining a crowd or just me.

A little whimsy in the sign as well as the repurposed macrame plant hanger give the bar a little extra flair for fun.

Now I just have to share my latest wine find with you – MarthaStewartWine.com!

With the 1/2 case wine club, I get 6 bottles sent to my door every 6 weeks.

But wait, I’m hardly ever home…no worries, they can actually deliver to places such as Walgreens. It puts new meaning into the tag line “corner of healthy and happy!” It’s worth checking out, I’ve been happy with every bottle I’ve uncorked so far! (Note: affiliate link). Now this chicken-rotisserie-turned-wine-bar is my favorite part of the kitchen and will never be empty! And, the joy extends into the back patio as well!
