Guest Posting Guidelines

Thank you for your interest in guest posting at YHOB. Here are a few helpful guidelines in writing your post:

Topics: Your post should be written with YHOB readers in mind. We write for smart homeowners who care about making their home the best it can be, both functionally and with style. We cover decorating, entertaining and organizational topics. The more specific your topic is, the more successful it will be.

Exclusivity: The content you write for YHOB should be exclusive to YHOB. While you’re more than welcome to write on the same topic elsewhere,  posts that appear on YHOB should not appear in the same form elsewhere.

Images: YHOB readers love great images! Please include all images that you want in your post. It is your responsibility to ensure the images you provide do not infringe on copyright laws, either in terms of text or images. All image sources should be credited to the original location online. Images can be up to 500 pixels wide.

Links: Relevant links are allowed. You are welcome to link back to your blog responsibly. We are happy to promote you, but please keep it keep it balanced. Subtlety works best. Note that we don’t publish affiliate links in guest posts.

Links in the article body should be there to support content of the article. Guest posting is not intended to be a form of free advertising for a product or service. If you are interested in our various advertising options, click here and we’ll be glad to assist you.

Byline: You’ve worked hard to give us great content, so let us help promote your work. This is largely done in your byline. Bylines should be a sentence or two explaining who you are and what you do. Feel free to include up to two links.

Your byline will appear at the bottom of your post, but we’ll also write a short introductory sentence that will include your main link, and will appear at the top of the post.

Promotion: We will happily promote your post via social media and other communication channels, and appreciate you doing the same!

Writing Tips:

  • Bring your own voice to your post.
  • While images are worth a thousand words, please aim for 300 – 600 words.
  • We reserve the right to edit your post. If many changes are required, we will consult with you prior to publishing.

Format: You can provide your post as a Word doc, text file or html file. Please send an email to susan (at) yourhomeonlybetter (dot) com with your post and images. Please include images as attachments as we will host them locally.
